DID YOU KNOW?

There are over 2,400 people homeless in Northwest Arkansas, over half of which are youth according to the 2015 NWA Homeless Census provided by the University of Arkansas.  That's an increase of 48% from 2007 to 2015, and, unfortunately, the numbers continue to rise.

What we offer single parents in need?

The Havenwood program provides transitional housing for single mothers and their children in a supportive environment to help families become economically self-sufficient and transition into permanent housing.

Havenwood is a two year program designed to help single mothers overcome the barriers in their lives that lead to homelessness.  Residents are required to work or attend school full time and volunteer.

Residents are required to participate in our life skills development program that requires working with our caseworker to develop a Personal Living Plan and participating in weekly group meetings. Our program includes a curriculum that focuses on budgeting and money management, health and wellness, personal empowerment and leadership, workforce enhancement and, family dynamics and healthy relationships.  We encourage working with a counselor on therapeutic goals.  Residents also receive services include individual case management, referral to resources they need to accomplish their personal living plan and a family like atmosphere to help meet the needs of their children.

Our program helps integrate families into the community and teaches personal responsibility and self-sufficiency.  Residents are required to do community service as well as contribute to the shared living areas in the form of chores.

Residents sign a lease with Community Development Corporation of Bentonville/Bella Vista, Inc. and can stay up to two years. Applicants must agree to fully participate in the Havenwood Program. Havenwood provides support, resources, and referrals to break down the barriers each family faces in order to move from homelessness to self-sufficiency.
